The Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) trains student pharmacists and scientists to make a difference in people’s lives by improving human health in our local communities and around the world.

This is a year-round pharmacy program that includes three 15-week trimesters in year 1 (Fall, Spring, and Summer), three 15-week trimesters in year 2 (Fall, Spring, and Summer), and then the final two 15-week trimesters in year 3 (Fall & Spring). There is a 2-week break between each trimester. Students also get the entire week of Thanksgiving off in November.

Prerequisite Coursework Policies

Online coursework: science courses with labs: Varies; science courses without labs: Yes; non-science courses: Yes. We will accept online coursework from accredited institutions with the exception of Science labs (except Human Anatomy, which can be completed online) and Speech courses. Please contact the Pharmacy Admissions team ([email protected]) to verify coursework eligibility.

Pass/fail grades: Not accepted.

Completion timing: All prerequisites should be completed no later than August 1, 2027.

Letter of Recommendation Requirements

Two (2) evaluations (letters of reference) are required.

Accepted: Pharmacist

Conditionally Accepted: Employer, Faculty Advisor, Pre-Health Advisor, Professor (Any Subject Area), Professor (Liberal Arts), Supervisor

Not Accepted: Clergy, Co-Worker, Family Member, Friend, Politician, Teaching Assistant

Committee letters: Conditionally accepted (counts as more than one: No)

Two letters of recommendation are required. We would like to see one from a math or science professor and another from a health care provider (pharmacist, doctor, etc) who can speak to your interest in and readiness for the pharmacy profession. If you cannot obtain one of each, we will accept any combination of these two types of letters. Please contact the Pharmacy Admissions team if you have any questions about letters of recommendation.

Interview Information

Interview Format: Individual applicants with one interviewer, Multiple applicants with one or more interviewers

Online interview option: Yes, but only on a case-by-case basis

Interview day typically occurs on Fridays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There will be a small number of interviews that are held on different days of the week to better accommodate candidate schedules. Interview days start with an school/program overview, a short welcome from school leadership, and a tour of the Rinker Health Sciences Campus. If possible, prospective students may have the opportunity to interact with current students. After the tour, applicants will participate in individual interviews with faculty and a group session that will focus on communication and team-based skills. The day will conclude with a closing presentation.
