Program Description

Belmont University College of Pharmacy is located in one of America’s great cities – Nashville, Tennessee – known for its strong healthcare industry, superb recreational opportunities, exceptional quality of life, and world-class musicians from all genres.

Belmont University offers a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy program that provides our students with the education to compassionately serve patients and effectively manage a variety of healthcare systems. Service to others is a hallmark of the Belmont experience for pharmacy students. And our graduates consistently achieve first-time pass rates on the NAPLEX and MPJE that are well above the national average for pharmacy schools.

Alongside the core curriculum, we offer innovative concentrations in four areas to enhance our graduates’ marketability and career options: Management, Health Care Informatics, Advanced Pharmacotherapy and Missions/Public Health.  Belmont also offers a dual degree PharmD/MBA which students can complete within four years at a significant tuition savings versus enrolling in each program separately.  A previous bachelor’s degree is a prerequisite for entry to the MBA program.

Prerequisite Coursework Policies

Online coursework: Accepted for all prerequisite courses. All online courses must be completed through a regionally-accredited institution.

Pass/fail grades: science courses with labs: Yes, but only if no letter grade option available; science courses without labs: Yes, but only if no letter grade option available; non-science courses: Yes, but only if no letter grade option available.

Completion timing: All prerequisite coursework must be completed by the first day of classes in the first fall term in August. Admission for candidates who do not successfully complete all prerequisite requirements will be rescinded.

Letter of Recommendation Requirements

Two (2) evaluations (letters of reference) are required.

Recommended But Not Required: Pharmacist, Pre-Health Advisor, Professor (Any Subject Area)

Accepted: Employer, Faculty Advisor, Health Care Professional, Politician, Professor (Liberal Arts), Professor (Math), Professor (Science), Supervisor

Not Accepted: Clergy, Co-Worker, Family Member, Friend, Teaching Assistant

Committee letters: Conditionally accepted (counts as more than one: No)

At least one letter of reference from a pharmacist is preferred, although not required.

Interview Format: Individual applicants with one interviewer, Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI)

Online interview option: Yes

Qualified applicants are invited to attend an upcoming Interview Day online. Interview days are held most weekdays throughout the year, and each applicant will meet individually with at least two different faculty interviewers and one current student. In addition to our interview process, Belmont offers on-campus Preview Days, which include a program presentation, campus and facility tour, an opportunity to talk with current students & faculty, and an onsite writing sample.
