Program Description

Entering its twelfth decade of providing access to the American dream through excellence in higher education, Long Island University (LIU) is a multicampus, diverse, doctoral institution. One of the largest and most comprehensive private nonsectarian universities in the country, it offers more than 600 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs and certificates and educates more than 18,000 students.

The Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was founded in 1886 and is the oldest unit of LIU. Located on the Brooklyn Campus, the College of Pharmacy educates students in the heart of the largest metropolitan area in the country. There are nearly 800 full-time professional students and approximately 250 graduate students enrolled each year.

The professional segment of the Doctor of Pharmacy program consists of six semesters of didactic and early experiential coursework and an extramural year of advanced practice experiences, which students complete in hospital, community, and other pharmacy practice settings. The professional program provides the specialized education necessary to develop expertise in the ever-broadening field of pharmacy and prepares the student for professional licensure examinations.

Program Description

The College of Pharmacy, the oldest professional college at The University of New Mexico, was founded in 1945. The College of Pharmacy has approximately 3,100 graduates of its professional program. Nearly two-thirds of all practicing pharmacists in New Mexico are graduates of the College of Pharmacy. The College of Pharmacy offers the professional program leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D. degree). The program consists of four years of professional education. Consideration for admission to the program requires 91 credit hours of prerequisite course work. The Pharm.D. program emphasizes student-centered problem-based learning and requires nine months of advanced professional practice experiences during the fourth year, including experiences in ambulatory care, community-based and institutional settings. The Pharm.D. degree is the only professional degree offered by the College of Pharmacy.

Interview Format: Individual applicants with one interviewer
Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI)
Interview Dates:
Details: The required interview will consist of two main parts: a 30-minute extemporaneous writing exercise and a multiple-mini interview session.  During the multiple-mini interview sessions, students will rotate through 7 stations.  Within those stations, students will be given an amount of time to read the question and then several minutes to respond to the question.  Additional details on the interview will be sent to invited applicants.
