Prerequisite Coursework Policies

Online coursework: Accepted for all prerequisite courses. Courses must be completed from a fully accredited two-year or four-year institution.

Pass/fail grades: science courses with labs: Varies; science courses without labs: Varies; non-science courses: Varies.

Completion timing: Math and Science Pre-requisites must be completed with a grade of C or higher. If labs receive a separate grade from lectures, both lecture and lab must have a grade of C or higher. General Education courses may be completed with a grade of C- or higher. At a minimum, applicants must be enrolled in the first course in organic chemistry by the spring semester of the current application cycle to be considered for standard admission.

Letter of Recommendation Requirements

Two (2) evaluations (letters of reference) are required.

Conditionally Accepted: Co-Worker, Employer, Faculty Advisor, Health Care Professional, Pre-Health Advisor, Professor (Any Subject Area), Supervisor

Not Accepted: Clergy, Family Member, Friend, Politician, Professor (Liberal Arts), Teaching Assistant

Committee letters: Recommended but not required (counts as more than one: Varies)

One (1) academic letter of recommendation is required and must be completed by a college level Math or Science professor who has taught you in class. If your college pre-health committee prepares a composite/collective reference, you must submit that reference along with the PharmCAS printable academic form to PharmCAS. If a Math or Science professor cannot be found to write the letter, an academic advisor may be used. One (1) non-academic letter of recommendation is also required. It is preferred that this letter be completed by a pharmacist who has supervised you in a work setting. If you do not have pharmacy experience, then the non-academic letter of recommendation may be completed by anyone who has recently supervised you in a work setting. McWhorter School of Pharmacy offers two (2) interview days each month. These are primarily on Friday afternoons. We offer interviews regularly throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.
